ALMOND ,SWEET ( Prunus amygdalus dulcis ) - Sweet almond oil occurs in all our blends and is an excellent emollient, softening and soothing the skin to a satiny smoothe texture with a non - greasy residue. This wonderful oil has a similar makeup to the sebum of a baby and is known for its mildness. It is highly protecting and nourishing and is ideal for chapped, irritated and troubled skin and makes an excellent base oil.
BASIL - Originating from the Asia and the Pacific islands, basil has been a rich part of the cultural and religious landscapes in the Greek, Indian and Chinese cultures. As a good tonic for the nerves, it sharpens the senses and encourages concentration with its clear, sweet and spicy fragrance. An excellent stimulant for blood flow, it relieves gout and muscular pain and spasms.
BLACK COHOSH - A member of the buttercup family, Black Cohosh is a wildflower, garden perennial and a medicinal herb. It has beeen used in Asia and North America and more recently in Europe to relieve the unpleasant symptoms of menopause. It is often referred to as a ‘woman’s remedy’ as it used mainly to relieve premenstrual cramp and hot flashes.
BLACK PEPPER - Avery old and highly revered spice, Black Pepper has been a part of the Indian culture for over 4000 years. The Romans were reputed to have settled tax bills with this spice in lieu of coins. It has been used to treat urinary and liver disorders in the Indian culture, combating fever in the Greek culture, and to treat gonorrhoea during the early European empires. sore muscles. CALENDULA - ( Calendula Officinalis ) This is better known as golden Marigold. Because of the tremendous benefits Calendula offers to the skin, we have chosen to include it in all our * healing * wellness oils. An anti-inflammatory and antiseptic, the oil of this flower is effective on skin irritations such as wounds and rashes. It soothes the skin, treats varicose veins and helps to reduce scarring. It stimulates circulation , is deep penetrating and warming , bringing relief to sore muscles and headache relief. It is a panacea for nappy rash, sore , cracked nipples insect bites and eczema.
CAMELLIA - ( Camellia japonica ) The camellia flower is indigenous to the orient.. It is one of the richest sources of linoleum acid, oleic acid and also contains vitamins D & E. The high oleic acid content makes it an excellent moisturizer and a most effective carrier for other nutrients while being readily absorbed into the skin. Many Asian women attribute the flawless complexion to the use of the camellia and in Japan there are annual festivals based on this flower which last several months. As a hair treatment, geishas soaked their wooden combs in the camellia oil before combing their hair to prevent dry scalp and make their hair more manageable.
CARDAMON - Indigenous to Ceylon, India and Indo- China, it was long used as a medicine and condiment in these cultures as a tonic for the digestive system. Other cultures using cardamon as a digestive and apertif included the Romans, the Arabs and the Europeans. In Egypt, the seeds were used as a teeth whitener and also in perfumes and as incense. This sweet and spicy oil warms , uplifts, refreshes and invigorates the mind. Used topically it warms the skin and eases muscular aches and pain.
CARROT - Of great medicinal value since the ancient times, the carrot has garnered a reputation of effectively treating all types of skin diseases. It adds tone and elasticity to the skin thereby improving the complexion and is also said to remove age spots with repeated use. It keeps wrinkles at bay by stimulating the increased formation of epidermal cells which also makes it effective on scars. Good for calllouses, dry and encrusted skin. Slightly sweet but dry it has a cleansing effect on the mind relieving stress and exhaustion.
CASCARA SAGRADA - A medicinal plant whose bark is used for relief from constipation, dyspepsia, and a tonic for the bowels. It is also effective for liver and gall bladder problems.
CAYENNE - Many of us know cayenne as a red hot chili pepper but not of it medicinal properities, however this spice has been used for centuries to treat gastrointestinal ailments such as stomachache, cramping and gas as well as diseases of the circulatory system and rheumatic and arthritic pain. The active ingredient in cayenne is capsaicin. It relieves pain by temporarily causing various neuro-transmitters to be released from nerves causing a depletion. Without neuro-transmitters, pain signal can no longer be sent.

CHAMOMILE - There are 2 types of chamomile - the Roman and German chamomile. Both species contain Azuline, a most powerful anti-inflammatory agent . This is not present in the plant but is formed in the oil. German chamomile is also known as Blue Chamomile because of its deep blue colour. Throughout history, chamomile has been used for its calming , cooling and healing properties. The Egyptians used it primarily to cure fever. DANDELION - The first mention of the use of Dadelion as a medicine dates back to the 10th and 11th centuries in the works of Arab Physicians and to date it is still extensively employed. It’s chief constituents are Taraxacin, Inulin, gluten, gum and potash. It is used as a diuretic, tonic and is slightly aperient. It is a general stimulant to the system especially to the urinary organs and used in kidney and liver disorders.
DONG QUAI ( Angelica sinesis ) - Used for centuries by Asian healers to support the balance of estrogen and progesterone.
DRAGON’S BLOOD - ( Daemomorops draco ) Long used by Chinese herbologists to treat dysentery and diarrhea,
EPIMEDIUM BREVICORNUM - Herb used in Chinese medicine to reinforce the kidneys while strengthening the tendons and bones and relieve rheumatic conditions. It is also widely used to treat impotence and seminal emission.
EUCALYPTUS - The Eucalyptus tree is originally from Australia and is also known as the Australian Gum Tree. FRANKINCENSE - ( Olibanum ) The tree originates from China, Ethiopia, Iran and Lebanon. The resin called yellow drops are collected from incisions made in the bark. As a topical treatment, the Egyptians were the first to use it cosmetically in rejuvenating masks. The Chinese later used it to treat leprosy. It is currently used in skin preparations to rejuvenate aging skin , smoothing wrinkles. Its astingent properties also helps it to balance oily skin conditions and is effective in healing wounds and sores. Frankincense carries a haunting fragrance , spicy and woodsy. GINGER - ( Zingiber officinale ) This perennial herb is native to India, China, Java , Africa and The West Indies. The Jamaican specie is known for having the best aroma. As a spice it finds itself among the early pharmacopoeia of the Arabs and Greeks and Chinese where its been used to settle the stomach, ease sore throats and the discomforts of the flu and runny colds. Its exceptionally pleasant and spicy aroma warms the emotions, sharpens the senses, stimulates the mind while grounding it with a cheerful disposition. As a natural analgesic, it relieves arthritic and rheumatic pains as well as spains and muscle spasms especially in the lower back.

Though referred to as an oil, it is not really an oil but a liquid wax, closely resembling that of our skins sebum . Because of this, it is readily absorbed into the skin without leaving a greasy feeling. This non greasy nature makes it well tolerated by people with skin problems while increasing skin suppleness, healing acne and minimizing fine lines and wrinkles. It contains myristic acid which has anti-inflammatory properties. Recent tests done at Michigan University proved that 5 of the most common skin bacteria in addition to certain skin fungi failed to survive when placed in jojoba oil.

It is an anti-bacterial, anti-viral and antiseptic and when taken internally , strengthens the body’s overall immune responses. It is also a very effective insect repellant without being toxic to either humans or pets.

SARSAPARILLA - Used to treat skin and rheumatic condition and aid testosterone activity in the body.It is also used for gout, syphylis, gonorrhea, and digestive disorders.
SAW PALMETTO - ( Serenoa repens ) - Used extensively especially in Europe for enlargement of the Prostate. Historical use can be traced in the Americans to the Mayans who used it as a tonic and to the Seminoles who took the berries as an expectorant and tonic.
